Marc is a 4th generation Cantabrigian and graduate of the Cambridge Public Schools. He is the father of two boys who currently attend CPS, and one year old twins, who will attend CPS in a few years.

Marc has served three terms on the School Committee where he has led the way on such important issues as, special education, early childhood education, creating emotionally and physically safe schools and budget accountability and transparency. Marc has worked diligently to ensure parental input is valued and respected and has fought to ensure a high quality education for every student regardless of race, class, gender, ability or learning style.

In addition to his three terms on the committee, Marc has 20 years of experience volunteering with Cambridge’s children. He began by volunteering in the Cambridge Port after school program, a program his older brother helped develop. He worked to help build peer relationships with boys in a 5th grade classroom at the Tobin School, and helped implement the Peer Mediation Program at the King, King Open and then, Fletcher schools. Marc has been a soccer and baseball coach, is the current president of Central Little Baseball League and served on various committees, including the Cambridge Kids’ Council.

Marc has 15 years of experience as a social worker, specializing in child and family issues. Specifically, he has worked with special needs children and their families and currently is employed as the Clinical Coordinator at Farr Academy in Cambridge. In fact, Marc is the only member of the School Committee who actually works in a school. Every day Marc works side by side with teachers, administrators, parents and children to improve children’s lives through education.

As a Cambridge native with progressive politics, Marc is respected throughout Cambridge and is able to work with residents both new and old. Marc’s commitment to Cambridge and to its children is unshakable. That dedication, combined with his experience, has made Marc an important member of the School Committee and true advocate for children and public education.
